Garden Transformation in Leighton Buzzard

This was one of our favourite projects, a small front garden in Leighton Buzzard. Our customer had a clear vision in mind of what they wanted, with the main aim to increase their curb appeal and add some value to their property!

The first thing to do involved stripping out all of the existing weeds and plastic membrane and clearing the site in preparation for the slabs and the brand new turf! This didn’t take long and before we knew it, we were into phase 2.

The next step was to install the picket fence out the front with a small garden gate. This not only helped with adding value but also made it the perfect enclosed area for small children or animals, as the house was near a main road.

After the space was clear and the fence was finished we began laying the slabs leading up to the front door. We recommended the cotswold stone base, a light and clean looking stone that would really contrast against the green lawn. The slabs were laid and the bespoke sized raised beds were built and filled with topsoil.

We were soon on to the new lawn and immediately as we began laying the new high grade turf, the garden began to take shape. There is something quite satisfying about nice green turf!

The finished photo shows a much nicer looking, more functional front garden that helped raise the curb appeal. Mission accomplished!

Ivinghoe Council Installations!

Both myself (Alex) and Johnny have lived in Ivinghoe nearly all of our lives so we have a great relationship with the local community and council. Which is why we were delighted when they asked us to install new benches for the local people to enjoy outdoor seating and to help with social distancing!

There were three main sites for us to dig out, prepare and then gravel and re-turf, as you can see below!

Installing two picnic benches in the playground area with a neat and tidy border and gravel surround and two outside on the grass. We also installed rubbish bins in the surrounding areas to help with litter and to keep the village tidy and nice!

We really value our local community and love helping the area become more functional and appealing to the people of the parish! Look out for our next project for the local council!

New Turf Transformation!

Another amazing before and after, today we were adding brand new turf to a nearly finished back garden! We had already finished the front garden for this customer and they were happy to have us back to complete their back garden too!

The first job was to prepare the soil to which the turf would be laid on top of. This is an important part, if the soil is dry or of poor quality the turf won’t take! We levelled off the high parts and added in some top quality top soil with everything the new turf needed to grow and establish.

The customer wanted the lawn to be above the stepping stones to make it easier to maintain and mow, but below the brick line of the patio to show off the nice brick border. After the surface was ready we began laying the turf! And the transformation is brilliant.

Watering the turf regularly after it has been laid ensures it established itself well and leads to a healthy lush lawn! We have since been back to install a side fence and gate to the front!

Pitstone & Ivinghoe Cricket

Having played for Pitstone cricket team for years, we have the added bonus of being able to use the pitches and wickets we maintain! We have built a solid reputation in the local area for having one of the nicest grounds and playing surface. Cricket fans, if you haven’t played here, get in touch for a game!

This is one of many sports grounds that we maintain and one that we are very pleased with! If you are looking at getting some professional help with your sports ground then feel free to drop us a message and we’d be more than happy to help!

In the meantime, check out the ground below. We use a variety of techniques to keep this in optimal condition and a lot of machinery that helps us do the specialist jobs that make a difference.

We regularly cut and stripe the square and the outfield with pretty high precision. Regular cutting in playing season helps to keep the grass in good health but also stops lumps of grass accumulating after a cut so the ball travels fast and evenly along the surface!

We also regularly roll the wicket in the playing season for a flat, predictable playing surface. This needs to be done regularly in order to maintain the consistency!

There is nothing better than a nice sunny day and freshly cut stripes! And we don’t just stop at cricket grounds. We have regular contracts with lawn tennis clubs, football grounds (including pitch marking) and many other sports pitches. If you need specialist, professional advice or services, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
